In Dawn online January 27, 2016 there is a blog article 'How a Muslim-Jewish Romance Shapped One of India's Biggest Pharma Giants'.
Here is info that i like to share with readers:
One day in 1925, Hamied joined some friends on a lake cruise near Berlin. One of the passengers on the boat was a young woman named Luba Derczanska. Luba was born in Wilno in Russian Poland (now Vilnius, Lithuania) and had come to Berlin to study. From their first meeting, the romance between Abdul Hamied and Luba Derczanska blossomed.
In 1928, Hamied married Luba in Berlin’s only mosque, and the following year they were again married in the Choral Synagogue in Wilno and the marriage was “solemnised” at a Register Office in London.
From Rashid Jahangiri:
What was the link between the Maghreb and World War I?
An article under above heading in Dawn online Magazine says:
In place of the first jihad camp in Germany, where Muslims were recruited from different parts of the world to fight in World War I, there is now a refugee camp. Located in the south of Berlin at Wünsdorf-Zossen, it is also where the first mosque in Germany was constructed in 1915.
Tieke spoke about how she came across a postcard showing the mosque at Wünsdorf-Zossen that first piqued her interest in the project. “Thousands of such postcards were printed to show that Muslims were treated well,” she said.

From Zahid Aziz:
Before our Berlin Mosque was built, Maulana Sadr-ud-Din reported in The Light, May and July 1923, on Eid prayers being held at Wünsdorf and travelling from Berlin to there.
Please see the list of contents in the History area at the Berlin Mosque website and read his reports in articles number 1 and number 4.
From Rashid Jahangiri:
Imam of the Berlin Mosque brother Amir Aziz sent latest Eid day report. He wrote:
"This was historic moment for Berlin Mosque as grandson and great grandson of Dr. Khawja Abdul Hamied, specially visited us from Bombay. Dr. Khawja was the first person who recited Quran in this mosque on the inauguration ceremony of the Mosque. He got married in the mosque in 1928 and through his Nikah papers, his family was able to locate the mosque and visited on Eid. Dr. Gerdien Jonker is writing book on this family with reference to AAIIL."
Imam also sent Nikah Nama (Marriage Certificate) issued by Berlin Mosque certifying marriage between Dr. Abdul Hamied and Miss Luba Derczanska.
Please see report of this function with photos, including the Marriage Certificate from 1928, at this link towards the end.
