Abtar: Having no offspring or progeny

Holy Quran, Chapter Al-Kauthar, Verse 3:
“Surely thy [Holy Prophet Muhammad’s] enemy is cut off.”
The word ‘abtar’ (from ‘batr’, meaning ‘the cutting off of a thing entirely’), as applied to a beast, means ‘one whose tail is cut off’. As applied to a man it conveys several significances, for instance, ‘in want’ or ‘poor, suffering loss, one whom all good or prosperity is cut off, having no offspring or progeny’ (LL). All good is cut off from him because he walks contrary to the ways in which good can be attained. (Holy Quran commentary by Maulana Muhammad Ali).
The verse addressed Holy Prophet Muhammad SAWS, but it also applies to other appointees of Allah. Just the way Holy Prophet Muhammad SAWS enemy was made ‘abtar’, we see the same happened to charismatic Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who through his 2nd amendment to 1973 Constitution behaved as enemy of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Mujaddid of 14th Islamic Century.
ZAB had two sons and two daughters. Both sons are dead. Through one son he has one grandson. His politically active daughter Benazir Bhutto is dead. I don’t know what future holds for ZAB only grandson through his son. His grandsons through his daughters, including Bilawal Zardari don’t have Bhutto as their last names (although he changed his name, for political purpose, after death of his mother to Bilawal Zardari Bhutto).
According to founding members of ZAB’s Pakistan Peoples Party, i.e. Dr. Mubashir Hassan, Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, the current PPP led by Asif Zardari is NOT ZAB’s PPP. Given the state of political leadership of even this version of PPP, it is very much doubtful that it will remain as viable political party in future.
ZAB has become abtar both biologically and politically.

A person can have abdominal pain due to many reasons. To say, since Nehru did not have male progeny, so he was also made Abtar for his opposition to Mammur-min-Allah is not correct. In case of ZAB, in my opinion, it’s punishment from Allah. In ZAB family case there is common cause of death, unnatural, to be more exact murder. Even ZAB himself was judicially murdered, according to the Supreme Court Justice Nasim Hassan Shah, who upheld ZAB’s death sentence.
Correction: Benazir Bhutto’s son Bilawal Zardari changed his name after his mother’s death to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The old adage “history repeats itself” is based upon the psycho-social principle that Man tends to repeat his behavior in a fixed pattern. By extension the societies then rise and fall in a similar way. It is for this purpose that God sends His messengers to initiate, augment and sustain the rise and to prevent the fall. Mujaddids now have similar role as the Prophets of early times. If we take Pakistani society as a whole, we see its parallels in the following verses:
44:10. So (Prophet!) watch for the day when the sky will bring about a clear drought; [of fresh and revivalist ideas]
44:11. That will envelop these people. This is that woeful calamity (which is foretold). [dictator after dictator, loss of geographical mass repeatedly, financial and criminal downward slide]
44:12. (Seeing this the people will cry out,) `Our Lord! rid us of this calamity, truly we will be believers.’ [ask any Pakistani citizen and he will tell you that this is what they pray day-in and day-out]
44:13. How shall they take heed (now in this condition) for there has already come to them a Great Messenger telling the right from the wrong. [of course Mirza Ghulam Ahmed as mujaddid who refreshed what the Great Messenger Muhammad preached]
44:14. Yet they turned away from him and said, `He is a man tutored (by others), a man bereft of his senses.’ [this is exactly how they reject the revivalist message of Mirza Sahib and the curses thrown at him]
44:15. Look! We shall relax your punishment for a short while (but) you are sure to revert (to your former evil ways).
44:16. (After this respite) We shall again seize (you) with the mighty onslaught one day, then We shall inflict a sure and stern punishment. [lo and behold, this is what has happened and is happening to Pakistan]
44:17. And We afflicted the people of Pharaoh with a torment before them for there had come to them (too) a noble and respectable Messenger, [an example from history about the powerful majority]

Ahmad Raza Kasuri: says Allah punished Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
In Pakistan private TV channel ARY program ‘Do Tok’, Ahmad Raza Kasuri talks about his father murder case and Pakistan Supreme Court decision that convicted former Pakistan’s Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (ZAB), and he was hanged.
Ahmad Raza Kasuri says (paraphrased by me):
Everything was going in ZAB favor. Out of 9 Pakistan Supreme Court judges 5 were in his favor. Unlike any usual case of murder, which normally does not take more than 2 days, got prolonged to 6 months. ZAB legal team prolonged this case, as they were hoping public sentiment would help their client. And in the process 1 judge got retired, and another passed away. Thus balance changed. And at the end only 3 judges were in ZAB favor, and majority 4 judges including Chief Justice convicted ZAB.
Ahmad Raza Kasuri further says (paraphrased by me):
It was Allah who gave him (ZAB) death sentence. Allah knows which act of ZAB He did not like. Allah knows which action of ZAB made Allah angry, and then Allah caught him and punished him. Allah’s noose got into neck of ZAB. Allah gave every thing to ZAB and then humiliated him. I believe it is Allah who decided ZAB’s end.
Justice Nasim Hasan Shah, one of the 4 judges who convicted ZAB is on the record of saying that ZAB was judicially murdered. (I heard Pakistan’s President and ZAB son in-law Asif Ali Zardari stating it, in TV interview).
My point is that despite all the worldly popularity both domestic and international, facts, and even judges in ZAB favor, Allah SWT changed everything. ZAB was punished.
I think it was ZAB’s decision to declare Kalima-Shahada reciters Kafir (non-Muslim) for political purposes.

Shortly after ZAB’s execution in 1979, I happened to mention this to a Pakistani who was much against ZAB, but to my surprise he was upset that I should say that ZAB suffered punishment for declaring Muslims as kafir. As I was young then, I was taken to task for my impertinence. Others pleaded in my defence, that I was immature and should be forgiven for saying this.
I also had the same experience with opponents of Zia-ul-Haq. If you say before them that Zia’s end was Divine retribution for his determination to wipe out “the cancer” of Ahmadiyyat (as he called it), they will be upset.
So my limited experience indicates that:
Opponents of ZAB believe that ZAB did everything wrong except declaring Ahmadis as kafir.
Opponents of Zia-ul-Haq believe that Zia did everything wrong except issuing his ordinance against Ahmadis.

ZAB Cousin Mumtaz Ali Bhutto.
MAB is first cousin of ZAB. His political confidant. Founding member of PPP. In a recent TV Geo News (January 27, 2013) he gave details of his efforts to secure ZAB release, and in this regard he talked to world leaders at the time. They all contacted Zia Ul Haq and he promised them that ZAB won’t be given death penalty. MAB talked about 8 prominent journalists who met ZUQ 5 days before ZAB was put to death. In addition he talked about PPP programes for the poor and everyone in Pakistan etc… but he fails to give reason, despite all the worldly powers in favor, why ZAB was put to death. My late father a senior Supreme Court lawyer in the country and in his opinion, it was travesty of justice.
Perhaps exactly the way ZAB conducted trial of HMGA in 1974 National Assembly. No doubt Allah’s hand is unseen. And it was will of Allah. MAB interview at 17:40

“Given the state of political leadership of even this version of PPP [Pakistan People’s Party under leadership of Asif Zardari], it is very much doubtful that it will remain as viable political party in future. ZAB [Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto] has become abtar [Having NO Offspring or Progeny] both biologically and politically.”
Today in Pakistan on May 11, 2013 General Elections are held. One thing has become quite clear i.e. ‘wipe out of PPP’ at national level. Looking at the trend it becomes quite clear in next elections PPP will be wiped out even at provincial level in Province of Sindh, as PPP’s original strength was in Province of Punjab and not in Province of Sindh. This is proving and will further prove ZAB has become abtar both biologically and politically.

Apart from ZAB, Yahya Bakhtiar as attorney for ZAB also had to face the same prejudice and predicament in court as what he put Ahmadis through in the National Assembly in 1974. And this time all those ulama and Islamic parties who egged on Yahya Bakhtiar in the NA in 1974 were against him.

Let’s not forget that both Yahya Bakhtiar and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto were eloquent lawyers. Lawyers are known for their wits and impressionistic arguments in court. They cite historical precedence and tie the facts to make their case. They are supposed to be intelligent and wise. Hollywood makes blockbuster movies on these skills of theirs. It was this duo of Bakhtiar and Bhutto that "solved the 100 year problem", one led the circus in the national assembly and the other signed it into the Law and took the credit. Both expunged the very definition of a Muslim from the Islamic Doctrine and made a new Islamic Law defining who is a Muslim. As to what happened to them within three years of “solving” the century old problem at the very hands of the people they escorted before is what is laid out in Quran as the Law, only if they knew a little bit of that Law:
Yes, the mouths of two lawyers were sealed in the very forum where they must have spoken the most, but without being heard and their arguments were of no avail. Their mouths did not matter. Their intelligence and wisdom came to naught. Why?
Let’s also not forget that both were Shias. Now, at least in Pakistan the chicken have come home to not only roost but also to roast the very Shia existence. For those who might not know, Shias recite the same Kalima Shahada as any Muslim. One is then constrained to ask about the plight of Shias in the Land of the Pure as to what happened?
